Hi, I'm Pengqi.
I'm a researcher working at the intersection of human–computer interaction and artificial intelligence — interested in how intelligent systems can extend the way people think, work, and create together.
I'll be starting my PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at York University in September 2026, working with Prof. Emily Kuang on human–AI collaboration and the future of work. Before that I completed my M.Phil. in Computational Media and Arts at HKUST (Guangzhou) under Prof. Mingming Fan, and my B.B.A. (Hons) at BNU-HKBU UIC.
My recent work has explored multi-modal AI agents for children's reading, AI-assisted sensemaking for college learners, and AI-mediated emotion communication for Deaf and hard-of-hearing users in online meetings. Across these projects I tend to combine qualitative inquiry with systems building — listening carefully to people, then prototyping the smallest possible system that takes what they said seriously.

- Thinking about what "shared intelligence" actually means in everyday work.
